What is hypersensitive skin?

Hypersensitive skin is a condition where your skin reacts more intensely to things that wouldn’t typically cause a reaction. This can manifest as redness, itching, or a hypersensitive skin rash. If this sounds like you, fear not – there’s plenty of ways to soothe and protect hyperreactive skin.

What causes hypersensitive skin?

The causes of hypersensitive skin can vary. Environmental factors like pollution and weather changes can trigger reactions, as can stress and hormonal fluctuations. Additionally, using harsh skincare products can exacerbate sensitivity. Understanding these hypersensitive skin causes can help you avoid triggers where you can.

How do I care for hypersensitive skin?

A consistent routine and thoughtful product choices are a big part of caring for hypersensitive skin. Start by cleansing with a mild, hydrating cleanser like Dove Ultra Sensitive Serum Body Wash, which contains only 10 gentle ingredients to soothe and nourish without irritation. Moisturizing is key, so look for a moisturizer for hypersensitive skin that locks in hydration and protects your skin barrier. Remember, skincare for hypersensitive skin should be simple and gentle.

Which ingredients should I avoid if I have hypersensitive skin?

When choosing hypersensitive skin care products, steer clear of ingredients like alcohol, fragrances, and harsh exfoliants such as walnut shells or apricot pits, which have irregular, jagged edges and can cause irritation. Look for calming ingredients like glycerin, which helps support your skin’s moisture barrier.
